Consent to Participate in Research

We are looking for adults 18 and over who live, work, or own a home on the Oregon Coast to take a survey about how much people trust the local, state, and federal government institutions to mitigate coastal flooding. The study is being conducted by researchers at Portland State University in collaboration with the National Policy Consensus Center and is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Key Information for You to Consider
Voluntary Consent. You are being asked to volunteer for a research study. It is up to you whether you choose to participate or not. You may stop at any time without penalty.
Purpose. To understand how much people trust the government to mitigate coastal flooding.
Duration. 6-12 minutes
Procedures and Activities. The survey includes questions and a choice experiment in which you choose your preference from a combination of options.
What happens to the information collected?
The survey results will be used to prepare policy recommendations, academic publications, and presentations.
How will my privacy and data confidentiality be protected?
Your personal information will not be shared with any governmental agency. Despite taking steps to protect your privacy and personal information, we can never fully guarantee that your privacy and personal information will be protected.
Will I be paid for participating in this research?
You will not be paid to participate in the study. It does not cost anything to participate, only your time.
